Halifax Peninsula is the urban core of Halifax — a densely populated area bounded by the Northwest Arm, Bedford Basin, and Halifax Harbour. The Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) is a much larger administrative boundary that extends into surrounding suburban and rural communities including Bedford, Sackville, Fall River, Dartmouth, and beyond. The Peninsula is what most people picture when they think of “Halifax” — it’s the city proper, with the highest walkability and the most urban lifestyle in Nova Scotia.
